What do you think it would be like if Kerouac was still alive? Would we all be a lot cooler? I think he would fit in perfectly now that there is this whole hipster movement. Just something that was on my mind.
There's always been some type of "hipster movement". Jack was definitely a hipster of his time, and the term was used then too. It seems to be that the big difference is that being what is perceived to be a hipster in this day and age has become sort of the norm, or at least brought into the public eye.
I don't think Jack would fit in with the crowd of "hipsters" today. I think Jack would find the obsession over clothing and music to be an artificial way of straying from the norm.
