Something changed in Jack's writing, (or maybe I read more thoroughly). Pg. 270 Jack begins describing San Francisco and the next 10 pages of the book are so serenely beautiful. Did anyone else notice this?
Through out the book there are poetic moments and stagnant moments through. No matter how well his ideas move together, everything is exciting to read because it's so raw.
Makes me wonder, how much does re-editing detract from an author's real voice/experience? How much are they faking in hopes of getting the publishers attention?

I noticed that as well! Kerouac's writing became more similar to Walt Whitman's writing. I was curious at first to why Kerouac didn't see to draw much influence from Whitman after reading the quote at the start of the scroll, but now it seems he has started to notice details of a place and the descriptions of the people.
I found it to be that way through out the book.
I think you just started reading more carefully. And I think that editing detracts a lot from the writer's original idea.
(an idea) As people we have mood swings and changes through out the day, weeks, and months. I know when I write it depends on the day. Today I might be sitting on a hill and it will look terrible and gross, the next week it might be the most beautiful thing in the world. Kerouac's book is blunt and to the point. I don't think he was trying to do anything in particular. I think he simply had a better day and saw SanFran in a new perspective.
